Cap bottles

Capping your bottles is a piece of cake. Simply place a sanitized crown cap on the bottle capper's magnetized bell, lower the bell onto the top of the bottle, and push down on the wings of the capper until the crown snaps firmly into place.

Be careful when you're capping bottles. The bottles may be wet, you're pushing down on the top with some force, and a bottle could easily slide out from under you and break. Consider bottling on a kitchen towel to mop up liquids and supply some grip to the bottle.

As you progress in your homebrewing career, you may be interested in a bench capper, which is more stable and caps a beer bottle with the pull of a single lever. Some models even accommodate corks for Belgian bottles.

Steve will show you how to cap bottles on the next page.
