How beer is made

Humans have been brewing beer since at least 3000 B.C.E. And although grain has remained central, the process by which that grain is transformed into beer has changed considerably and continues to evolve even today. But despite the march of progress, brewing beer involves the same fundamental steps that brewers have followed for centuries.

Following is a brief overview of ingredients and of the beer brewing process. The process and ingredients are the same in your own kitchen as they are in a professional brewery. The only difference is scale and equipment.
