Transfer

Now you need to get your wort from the kettle to the fermentor. There are a few ways you can do this, but the two most common are

  1. Use a siphon and gravity
  2. Pour the wort through a strainer

This is the only time in the brewing process when you can pour instead of siphon. Oxygen is your friend only at the beginning of fermentation, when it helps yeast prepare for the job ahead.

On the next page, we'll demonstrate how to use an auto-siphon to transfer wort.
