What Our Editors Thought
Western pine-forest nose blurs the IPA line, but the fruity ester-forward sip allows only a touch of hop-bitterness to peek through. Woody, toasty malt body with a burnt bread-crust note.
What Our Panel Thought
Effusively fruity aroma, with piney, sweet-orange hops and caramel-tinged malt. Orange-grapefruit hop flavors take over, lacking malt depth to stand up to the bitterness. Flavors aren't bad but don't meld. Thin body falls short. Dry, astringent finish.
What the Brewers Say
MacTarnahan’s is a copper-hued amber ale dry-hopped with Cascades from the Northwest. Bright, crisp, and complex.
