What Our Panel Thought
Aroma: “Rich malt sweetness with notes of honey and toffee and hints of citrus in the back. Earthy hops and light fruity character with slight phenolic spice. Somewhat vinous.”
Flavor: “Medium malt body with toffee sweetness well balanced by medium hop bitterness. Slightly spicy with notes of black pepper and fruity components, like orange juice. Hops come through in the dry finish. Smooth creaminess and slight warmth, but not hot. Highly carbonated.”
Overall: “A really well-balanced beer and a nice example of the style. Excellent layers of malt, from sweetness to biscuit to bread crust. Very flavorful, smooth, and complex. Nice finish: crisp with just enough sweetness.”
What the Brewers Say
Some might want to label this as a beer brewed in the bière de garde tradition. We prefer to say it was brewed in the avant garde style that will reward all those who seek the not so ordinary. Deep gold in color with hints of biscuits, caramel, and fresh baked bread.
