What Our Editors Thought
Earthy and floral notes compete with warm caramel malt notes in the nose. The sip is bold and exquisite with a mouth-filling chocolaty malt width that nonetheless remains dry and controlled in the finish. Confident, with a pronounced swagger.
What Our Panel Thought
The nose paints a picture of dark malt carrying a sack of figs, raisins, and caramel and a filigree of dark roast coffee. The flavor fills in some details—a roast-forward, bitter base, a touch of raisin, and bread crust. The roasty finish cuts that richer picture down to size. Tasty, but a little less roast would help.
What the Brewers Say
Dark malt breadiness balanced with subtle dark-fruit flavors and a slight spiciness from the Saaz hop.
