What Our Editors Thought
Orange marmalade and earthy cannabis compete in the nose, with classic C-hop notes for throwback appeal. The sip tilts heavily toward an ashy-earthy bitterness, distracting a bit from more pleasing notes. Austere and unyielding.
What Our Panel Thought
Nose offers candy-like light caramel and fruity red-apple esters; subdued green-pepper hops, diesel notes. Fairly mild flavor: caramel and nicely steady bitterness with dank-pine-citrus hop flavor. Understated, leaving lingering bitterness a bit unbalanced.
What the Brewers Say
Four pounds of hops per barrel give this West Coast–style pale ale a heady, dank, and citrus-laced aroma supported by a complex and subtly sweet malt backbone.
