pin
From The Oxford Companion to Beer
is a cask or keg with the capacity of an eighth of a UK barrel, holding 4.5 UK gal (20.46 l) or 5.6 US gal. Pins are often used to hold barley wines and other very strong beers, assuring that the contents of the cask can be served over a reasonably short period of time.
