is a springtime, two-row malting barley developed by the Barley Breeding Program of Anheuser-Busch in 1998 from a cross of RPB70-268/2B75-1223//Klages for the specific purpose of beer production. Adapted in Canada but mostly produced in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, it is compared to other popular varieties such as Klages because of its higher seed plump percentage and stronger stem. Since its creation, it has consistently been one of the top varieties of barley. It is protected under the Plant Variety Protection Act of 1970, which grants US breeders 25 years of control over new plant varieties.
