What Our Editors Thought
Caramel, chocolate, and forest notes drive the nose. The sip is thoughtful and cohesive: touch of cocoa-powder bitterness, hint of malt sweetness, and a warm, citrusy note that lingers. Indulgent without being excessive.
What Our Panel Thought
Earthy pine and cedar jump out, ahead of red-candy notes that I associate with spruce tips; delicate citrus and floral notes too. Strong spruce tips in flavor, as roast and light-caramel counter pine-resin hops. Lingering bitterness. Spruce is a bit over-the-top.
What the Brewers Say
Brewed with dark and toasty malt, hopped with Citra, Chinook, and Cascade Cryo, with Colorado-grown spruce tips incorporated in the dry hop.
