is a traditional English hop. It was originally grown at Eastwell Park, close to Ashford, Kent, England. It is very similar to the other types of Golding hops and also bears similarities to Fuggle. See fuggle (hop). It is part of the somewhat generic “Golding” family and shares many of the family’s flavor and aroma characteristics, as well as its poor resistance to disease. See east kent golding (hop). Eastwell Golding alpha acids range from 5% to 5.5%. Beta acids average 3%, cohumulone levels 30%, and humulene levels 25%. The hop generally matures mid- to late season and retains 70% of its harvest-time alpha acids after 6 months of storage at room temperature.
