What Our Editors Thought
"Firm bread crust aroma with pumpernickel edges, saddle leather, bourbon-soaked oak, and a bit of caramel and honey. Far more subdued in the flavor, restrained and refined with lighter bread crust, faint Noble herbal bitterness, and a lively effervescent lift. Bold yet playful."
What Our Panel Thought
"Pleasant malt layers of caramel, toffee, chocolate, coffee, and bread crust blend well with the floral and perfume-like hop notes in nose. Mild coffee roast nose, with a big bread crust profile. The balance of the sip is on point with malty notes of toast, caramel, and toffee countered by classic Noble hop bitterness within a clean, crisp, and smoothly drinkable body. Appreciate the layered, bread, light roasted malt, low but cutting bitterness, and clean lager finish. Well done, more of these beers in 2025."
What the Brewers Say
"Reverential take on Dusseldorf altbier, pushing towards the higher end of style for color, malt sensory weight, and bitterness."
