What Our Editors Thought
A funk all its own, this spicy nose evokes a bit of South Pacific cuisine, with notes that range from lime leaf to coconut milk, Thai basil, grilled pineapple, cardamom, and freshly fertilized field. Unusual, yet it piques interest. The sip is sweet, but the spice quickly dries it out, and the acidity is strong but never quite overwhelms. A curious experiment.
What Our Panel Thought
A punch of sweet basil, cardamom, orange peel, ginger, allspice, cinnamon, and star anise on the nose. Less herbal character in the flavor, and more pineapple with some lemongrass. The spice notes work with the sourness, each aspect drawing out something from the other.
What the Brewers Say
A blend of barrel-aged sours creates the core of this Rum Swizzle–inspired golden sour ale.
