What Our Editors Thought
“Woody with a bit of dry barrel vegetal character in the aroma. Chocolate pushes forward in the sip with a round bitterness and just a hint of sweet caramel malt to soften.”
What Our Panel Thought
“Layers of caramel, toffee, chocolate, root beer, leather, vanilla in the nose, with a hint of coconut-forward booziness. Strong flavors in the body: roast, hop bitterness, spicy barrel notes, whiskey. Rum-like heat hits early in the sip, creating a coconut note to counter the more traditional caramel, toffee, vanilla.”
What the Brewers Say
“Black barleywine aged in rum barrels for 15 months.”
