Brewing scientist Jasper Akerboom, from Lost Rhino Brewing Company, and Jason Osborne, co-founder of Paleo Quest, teamed up to use a 14 million year old baleen whale skull to brew a new beer. While the fossil didn't bring anything from the past, it did have a new subspecies of yeast, which they named Saccharomyces cerevisiae var protocetus, after the protocetid whale fossil on which they found it.

Lost Rhino Brewing Company will release the Bone Dusters Paleo Ale in their taproom in Ashburn, Virginia, first—with plans for wider distribution. Check out the whole story.
